Watch: The Odia ‘Cheer-up Song’ For Men’s Hockey World Cup in Bhubaneshwar



Men’s Hockey World Cup: With the Men’s Hockey World Cup slated to begin later this month, Odisha is leaving no stone unturned in building up for the mega event. The latest ‘cheer up’ song was released this Wednesday which is in the local Odia language, to give the feel of the place. “Every Cup needs a song. Here is one for Odisha,” tweeted @sports_odisha, the official account of the Sports and Youth Services Department, Government of Odisha.

The song is based on Sambalpuri rhythm which features dancers from the famous dance forms of Odisha — Odissi and Sambalpuri. It is colourful and vibrant and has the right tempo and could become an instant hit among fans.

The song is titled “Asa Kariba Bobbal, Odisha Naa Heba Global,” and the song has been sung by Mika Singh.

The 16-team World Cup begins on November 28, with the final on December 16.

Over the past few years, with major tournaments being held in the city of Bhubaneshwar, it has certainly become the citadel of Hockey. In fact, the state of Odisha is the official sponsor of the Indian Men’s and Women’s team.
