New Delhi, Jul 31: At least 85 people have died and many were injured in rain-related incidents in different parts of Uttar Pradesh during the last 24 hours. In Lucknow, 15 people have died and nine were injured. The MeT Department has issued heavy rain warning in western and eastern part of the state.
“Sonebhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Ghazipur, Ballia, Maunath Bhanjan, Azamgarh, Deoria districts will continue to receive heavy rains and thundershowers,” MeT statement had reported.

As per reports, 461 houses have been damaged. At the same time, the Meteorological Department has issued heavy rain warning in western and eastern UP. Schools were closed till July 31 in wake of more rains.
The state government has asked the NDRF team to be alert. A high alert has also been issued in many areas where Ganga is overflowing. People are being asked not to venture into the river.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had directed senior officials of all the districts to extend financial and medical assistance to the residents of affected areas. According to a government spokesperson, the chief minister had made arrangements to ensure that people in dilapidated buildings vacate the place immediately.
The Ganga is flowing above from the danger mark in Fatehgarh, Kannauj, Kanpur Dehat, Garhmukteshwar, Fafamau in Allahabad, Varanasi, Ghazipur and Ballia. The Yamuna is rising in Baghpat, Mathura, Agra, Auraiya, Kalpi, Hamirpur.
