Malayalam actress Priya Prakash Varrier starrer film Sridevi Bungalow has come under the scanner with Boney Kapoor slamming a legal notice on the makers of the film. Since the trailer is out, it has generated controversy for being strikingly similar to the life of legendary actress Sridevi and how she died in a bathtub. The film has not only used Sridevi’s name in the film but also in the title of the film. However, when Janhvi Kapoor was asked to comment on the film at an award show that was recently held, she seemed clueless. She did not comment anything and neither had she stated her opinion.
In fact, even before Janhvi could say something, her manager comes in between and asked the Dhadak actress to leave the stage and called off the media interaction.

Regarding the legal notice sent by Boney Kapoor and her character in the film, she said to Deccan Chronical, “The story is based on a female superstar. And I was happy to get to play this role. The entire story focuses on the superstar. Obviously for me to get such a meaty role as my debut film …why would I say “No” to it.”
Earlier, the director of the film, Prasanth Mambully, had confirmed about receiving a legal notice from Boney and said, “We received a legal notice from Mr Boney Kapoor last week. And we will face it. My film is a suspense thriller. I told him that Sridevi is a common name. My film’s character also happens to be an actress. We will face it”. Talking about the same, Mambully said, “In the notice, Boney Kapoor has raised a few objections against our film including the usage of the name and doing a biopic of the actress. He wanted us to alter the name of our movie within 24 hours. We sent him a reply explaining that Sridevi was a common name and there was no logic in objecting to it. It is just a coincidence that my movie tells the tale of an actress named Sridevi.”
On the work front, Janhvi began shooting for Takht, a periodic Mughal drama movie which is being produced by filmmaker Karan Johar. Takht boasts of an ensemble star cast which includes big names like Anil Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal and Bhumi Pednekar. As per reports, the film, which is based on the fight for the Mughal throne, is set to be released in 2020.
