New Delhi, May 16: Search for ‘Ramadan 2018 India Date’ has been on the rise on the internet since last few days in the country. The confirmed date for the beginning of Ramadan or Ramzan 2018 is being searched in Pakistan, Bangladesh and South Asia. The beginning of Ramadan 2018 depends on moon sighting. Muslims in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and other countries of the Indian sub-continent will keep an eye out for the crescent moon this evening to determine the start of the fasting month.
Ramadan 2018 Date in India and other Asian countries: Depending on the moon sighting, fasting for Ramadan in India will either begin from May 17 (Thursday) or May 18 (Friday). Muslims will try to see the moon on 29th Shaban this evening. If moon sighted, Shaban will end and Ramadan will begin from tomorrow, May 17. In Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries, there was no sight of the Ramadan crescent on Tuesday. Hence, the Kingdom and other Muslim nations in the Middle East declared Ramadan would not begin on Wednesday but on Thursday. South Korea, Japan and Singapore also declared Ramadan on Thursday. The Australian Muslim Council of Imams, too, declared that Ramadan will fall on Thursday. The announcement was made by the Grand Mufti of Australia, Abdul Azim Al Afifi on the council’s official Facebook page.
Fasting from dawn until sunset in Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam and is intended to help teach Muslims self-discipline, self-restraint and generosity. The month-long fasting ends on Id-ul-Fitr celebrations.
