Jaipur, June 15: A curfew has been imposed on mobile internet in many cities in Rajasthan to curb cheating during ongoing police constable exam in the state. Further, the curfew was imposed on Saturday but will continue till Sunday.
“The exam is taking place in four shifts, two shifts today and as many tomorrow, during which mobile Internet services will be blocked. Nearly 15 lakh candidates have applied for the exam, for which as many as 664 exam centres, including 209 in Jaipur district,” Inspector General recruitment Prashakha Mathur told DNA on Saturday.
Suspension of the internet has not only affected the digital economy but has created problems for everybody. The worst hit was the transport as people could not use their debit or credit cards. Cab services such as Ola and Uber, and food delivery apps registered a significant drop in their businesses.
People boarding flights had to carry printouts of their tickets as they could not show the digital copies on their phones. Further, people had difficulty booking their movie tickets online through mobile application.
Mobile internet curfew on Sunday will begin from 8 AM till 5 PM.
