When Salman met Shoaib!

Former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi is loved in Pakistan and is a great human being who believes in doing charity. In a bid to bat for the betterment of India-Pakistan ties, the cricketer got a picture clicked with Bollywood actor Salman Khan and then posted it on his Twitter account a couple of days back. Now we get to understand the real reason behind the stunt.

The former Pakistan cricketer did it as a part of an agreement with celebrities, where they use their popularity to bring peace and harmony between two nations. The two nations have been at war thrice and do not share a good diplomatic relation with each other. Afridi in a recent interview to the Dawn said, “We were in agreement that celebs should play their role towards the betterment of bilateral ties by speaking positively in the media. My aim of posting pics w/ him (Salman) on SM was the same.”

Salman met him as he was on a Race-promo Tour. Not so long ago, another former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar had made a statement where he batted for free Kashmir, but soon deleted the tweet.

“Finally Salman gets a relief from honourable court I wish 1 day in my life time i get a news of Kashmir Palestine Yemen Afghanistan & all the troubled area of the world are free bcoz my heart bleeds for humanity & loss of innocent life ..” he tweeted.

It seems cricket is the only way to unite the two nations, but that dream looks far-fetched as of now, given the border tensions that has become a day-to-day affair at the LoC.
