Mumbai: A 25-year-old Mumbai woman was allegedly raped by her ex-boyfriend after she refused to sleep with his friends so that he could collect money to fund his trip to Canada. The woman approached police after she was attacked by four-five men at her residence on in Vashi on September 9. She alleged that her ex-boyfriend, identified as Dharan Shah, was behind the attack.
The accused was arrested following a complaint by the woman. A case was filed under section 376, 503 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code and the accused was sent to police custody.
In her complaint, the woman stated that she has known the accused for the past two years. She said that Shah had previously raped her on several occasions after making false promises of marriage to her. When she asked her about their marriage, the accused started blackmailing her that he would circulate her videos and pictures if she refuses to have sex with him.
The accused even took Rs 3.02 lakh, gold ornaments worth Rs 1.13 lakh, a Dell laptop, an iPad and headphones from her. When Shah again asked her to give him money to fund his Canada trip, she refused. The accused then asked her to sleep with his friends so he could collect some money from them to fund the trip. When she refused again, Shah raped her.
Following which, the victim approached the police and filed a police case against Shah. On September 9, some men barged into her house and attacked her with sharp objects. She alleged that they stripped her naked when she fell unconscious. After coming back to conscious, she filed a case against the accused. A medical report confirmed injury marks on her chest and neck.
