Thane: Bhim Army on Thursday staged a protest outside Mumbai’s Dadar platform, to press their demand of renaming the railway station in Mumbai as ‘Dr. Babasaheb Amebedkar Terminus’.
Earlier in November, Bhim Army President also wrote to the state government reiterating their request of renaming the Dadar railway station before December 6, dailyhunt reported. Notably, the army has been requesting the name change for years now, but feel their requests are being ignored by Maharashtra government.
In another instance on December 2, Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar said members of the community should take over all Hanuman temples in the country and appoint Dalits as priests there. This came days after Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath claimed that Lord Hanuman was a Dalit.
Notably, Adityanath had said, “Hanuman was a forest dweller, deprived and a Dalit. Bajrang Bali worked to unite all Indian communities, from north to south and east to west.” Reacting to the comment, Chandrashekhar told reporters here that, “Dalits should take over all Hanuman temples in the country and appoint Dalits as priests there.” A right-wing group in Rajasthan has sent a legal notice to Adityanath, asking him to apologise for calling Lord Hanuman a Dalit.
