The Microsoft Office productivity suite is massively popular on Android and the company pushes out monthly updates with improvements and features for Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Microsoft today released the July 2018 Office update for Android that brings the app to build 16.0.10325.20043. It comes with some improvements for Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, which according to Microsoft in a support document are only available for Office 365 subscribers who part of the Office Insider program.
The July 2018 Update brings the following improvements to Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook:
Microsoft Word: The word count of your document is now always displayed at the bottom of your screen when you scroll through a document.
Microsoft PowerPoint: You can now edit slides when your device is turned sideways (landscape view). This feature would be useful on devices with bigger screens considering the new dual-pane interface of the app.
Microsoft Outlook: You can now delete contacts and turn off email notifications when you’re attending an important meeting or family function. “Limit distractions and focus on what matters,” Microsoft explains. “For example, turn off email notifications when you’re attending a meeting so that you can devote your full attention to the information being share and to the discussion.”
As noted above, the new update is currently only available for Insiders, but once it is tested enough will be released to the general public. Microsoft says that anyone can sign up for Microsoft’s Office Insider Program and try out new features before they make it to public release.
