Mick Schumacher, son of legendary Formula One driver Michael Schumacher, won his first F3 race at Spa track, the famed circuit where his father won his first Formula 1 race 26 years ago. On Saturday, 19-year-old Mick attained his first victory in a total of 45 race in F3 series.
Mick, who drives for Prema Powerteam Dallara-Mercedes, overtook two of his team-mates to win from sixth on the grid after also suffering a collision during the opening lap in wet conditions on Saturday.
In 1991, Michael made his debut at the Spa track for Jordan and next year claimed his first victory for Benetton on the same track.

“It seems Spa is a good place for the Schumacher family,” BBC quoted Mick as saying afterwards. “I’m so happy about this victory, the only thing I can say is goosebumps,” he added.
Schumacher, who holds the record of seven Formula One titles and 91 race wins between 1991 and 2006, suffered from head injuries while skiing during a French Alps vacation in 2013 and has not been seen in public since then. Last year was the 25th anniversary of his first win in Formula 1.
Mick said coming through difficult phases was “a Schumacher strength in general”, adding: “I do believe that I have that in my genes.”
