Bhopal, May 19: In yet another case of cow vigilantism, a man named- Riaz from Satna district was beaten to death by villagers in Amgar village, for allegedly killing cattle. Shakeel, a driver was also left critically injured in the incident. So far, police have caught four to five people who are suspected of being involved in the incident. However, the matter is under investigation.

The incident took place on Thursday evening. Two people from Amgar village saw a group of people with the cattle. However, when they reached the spot, four of the group members had fled while two from the same group- Riaz and Shakeel who were with the cattle, were severely beaten up by the villagers. Later, when the police reached the spot in the early hours of Friday, they found Riaz dead and Shakeel, lying in a critical state.

“The police found a slaughtered bull and meat of two other bulls packed in sacks from the spot. Satna SP Rajesh Hingankar told The Indian Express that villagers attacked the duo. He said that four to five suspects have been taken into custody and they are being questioned,” the report said.

 In an earlier incident happened in January, a mob in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur vandalized a truck and thrashed its driver on suspicion that he was carrying beef in the vehicle.
