Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections 2018: ‘Congress Confused Like Its President But People Aren’t, They’ll Vote For BJP,’ Says Shivraj Singh Chouhan

Bhopal: The war of words between Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Congress President Rahul Gandhi continues unabated. In the latest salvo, Chouhan said on Friday that while Rahul might be confused, the public wasn’t and would vote for the BJP. “Wo tae nahi kar pa rahe hain, kya karna hai kya nahi karna. Puri Congress confused hai. Unke neta hi confused hain. Unhone khudh hi keh diya ki ‘main confuse hogaya tha’. Lekin janta mein koi confusion nahi hai, BJP ko jitayenge log (They (the Congress) cannot decide what needs to be done. The entire Congress is confused. Their leader (Rahul Gandhi) is also confused.  He himself admitted, ‘I got confused. But the public isn’t confused and will ensure a win for the BJP).”

The ‘confused’ jibe came in response to Rahul’s confession that he got confused while claiming that Chouhan’s son had been named in the Panama Papers scandal. He went on to defend himself by adding that since there were scams like Vyapam in Madhya Pradesh, he got confused. “BJP mein itna bhrashtachaar hai ki main kal confuse ho gaya tha. Madhya Pradesh ke CM ne Panama nahi kiya unhone to e-tendering aur vyapam scam kiye hain (There is so much corruption in BJP that I got confused. The Madhya Pradesh CM has not done Panama but he has done e-tendering and Vyapam scams),” the Congress chief clarified.

Chouhan’s son had filed a defamation case against Rahul in this connection. “Kartikey Chouhan has filed a defamation case against Rahul Gandhi over his statement ‘MP CM’s son’s name was mentioned in Panama Papers leaks,’during a political rally. This is an objectionable statement given with a criminal intention,” Kartikey’s lawyer S Srivastava told reporters.

Rahul had said, “The name of the son of CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan surfaced in the Panama papers, but no action was taken. Even a country like Pakistan punished its former PM when he was named in the Panama papers,” the Congress chief had said while addressing a rally in Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh.
