Senior Telugu actor Arisetti Nageshwara Rao aka Vinod passed away in the wee hours of Saturday. The noted actor, who is best known for playing villainous roles in movies such as Indra and Lorry Driver, suffered a severe brain stroke at around 2 am today and was later pronounced dead by the doctors.
Vinod entertained the Telugu audience by portraying a variety of roles as a character artiste and a villain and has even won heart by starring in several popular TV serials. The actor’s sudden demise has come as a shocker to Tollywood.
Vinod’s original name was Arisetti Nageshwara Rao and he belonged to Tenali. The senior actor showed his screen presence in over 300 films. Vinod started his acting career as the male lead with his maiden film being Keerthi Kantha Kanakam. Helmed by V. Visweswara Rao, the film was released in 1980.
However, Vinod’s first shot to fame was Chanti, where he gave a power-packed performance, acting as one of the brothers to actress Meena. The actor’s role in Chanti was applauded by the audience and also earned him fame and several roles. Vinod later played pivotal roles in Chiranjeevi’s Indra and Balakrishna’s Lorry Driver. Apart from being a noted actor, Vinod was popular as a faction leader since he was seen in most of the faction backdrop films in Telugu.
