Haridwar-born Pant has got a maiden Test call-up after impressing selectors with his IPL performance, where he scored 681 runs from 14 games at an average of 52.61 and a staggering strike rate of 173.60. It included a century and five fifties. Currently, Pant is in the UK and is representing India A. He recently hit a crucial 64* against England Lions. The 20-year-old followed it up with a gutsy knock of 67 runs in 71 balls to guide India A to a victory against the Windies.
Earlier, the youngster was included in the T20I squad for the Nidahas Trophy where he played two matches and was dropped after a couple of lacklustre performances.
Here is the Indian squad for the first three Tests against England. Mohammed Shami has been included and Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been dropped following a stiff back.
