English spinner Adil Rashid got the wicket of Indian captain Virat Kohli when he was set and looking for another century. Kohli was dismissed by an Adil Rashid ripper for 71 off 72 balls. After the match, Rashid went on to hail the ‘new ball of the century’ and also added that it was the most satisfying ball he ever bowled. It was a near-perfect day for the hosts who also had Joe Root shine, as he got to his 13th ODI ton.
‘It was definitely the most satisfying ball I’ve bowled because he is one of the best players in the world,’ said Rashid of a leg-break that pitched on Kohli’s leg-stump and hit the top of off, to the India captain’s astonishment.
“It’s the sort of ball you wish you could bowl all the time but on this occasion, it just came out very nicely,” said Rashid to The Daily Mail.
It surely is a ball he will remember for the rest of his life, something like the Shane Warne delivery to Mike Gatting in his first Ashes.
Kohli was in utter disbelief and his reaction said it all after he Rashid got past his defence to disturb the timber.

Rashid was in devastating form as he went on to scalp two more Indian wickets, the likes of Suresh Raina and Dinesh Karthik. He was the pick of the bowlers for England as he derailed India in the middle overs. Rashid ended with figures of 3/49 in his stipulated 10 overs.
Now it is over to the whites as the 1st Test begins on August 1.
