IND vs ENG 3rd ODI: Jason Roy Doubtful For Series Decider After Suffering Finger Injury; James Vince, Sam Billings Added to England Squad

In all probability, Jason Roy is set to miss the 3rd ODI at Headingley after he picked up a finger injury. James Vince and Sam Billings are set to replace the English opener. Jason Roy has been in emphatic form during this tour, he has got them off to flyers on more than one occasion. In the first ODI at Trent Bridge, he got 38 off 35 and in the second at Lord’s he scored 40 off 42 balls. He got them off to starts they were looking for.

Jason Roy will have a fitness test tomorrow on a laceration to his finger sustained fielding in Saturday’s ODI against India at Lord’s.

Hampshire captain James Vince last played a one-day match for England during the tour of Bangladesh in October 2016. Sam Billings, on the other hand, made a name for himself in the IPL and would have good knowledge about this Indian squad.

A team spokesperson on Monday, “He remains a doubt for tomorrow (Tuesday) and will have a fitness test in the morning at the ground to ascertain whether he’ll be fit to play.”

Meanwhile, India won the first ODI at Tent Bridge by 8 wickets and then the hosts squared it up at Lord’s where they beat India by 86 runs, riding on Joe Root’s classy 113 off 116 balls. With the 3rd ODI set to be played in a few hours from now, Jason Roy not present upsets the balance at the top and it could hurt England badly.
