Hyderabad, Jul 18: A 19-year-old boy allegedly killed his friend and burnt the body for a smartphone. He has been arrested by the Hyderabad Police and charged under Sections 302, 364 and 201 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The accused, identified as G Prem Sagar, admitted killing D Prem, 17, after the latter refused to give him his smartphone.
As per the police, Sagar picked up Prem from Uppal and then, took him to an isolated place in Adibatla on pretext of a long drive. After a feud, he attacked him with a stick and later set the body on fire.
“The accused after picking Prem took him to Adibatla by saying that he is taking him to a long drive on his motorcycle. After reaching there, the accused took the minor to a lone place and attacked him with a stick on his head, and when the boy fell unconscious the accused poured petrol on minor and set him ablaze. The minor has died on the spot,” the police was quoted as saying in a News18 report.
The accused and the deceased reportedly belonged to the same locality. Meanwhile, Sagar has been sent to judicial remand.
The police began investigation in the case after a missing complaint was filed by Prem’s family on July 14.
