Indonesia, Apr 23: An earthquake hit 109 km southwest of Abepura, Indonesia at 11.58 Universal Time Coordinated (UTC). The magnitude recorded on the Richter scale was 5.3. No casualties have been reported so far.
People were seen rushing and taking shelter in the open.
On January 13, 2018, Indonesia was rocked by 6.1 magnitude earthquake. It came just hours before an enormous 8.2-magnitude quake struck off the south-eastern coast of Alaska. More than 130 buildings were damaged, including mosques, schools, and offices. Six children were reportedly injured.
