BJP National Convention Live News Updates: After 2014, India Has Not Witnessed Any Major Terrorist Attack, Says Nirmala Sitharaman

New Delhi: Union minister defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday said that India has not witnessed any major terrorist attack after 2014. Speaking at the concluding session of BJP national convention, she said, “We have not had one major terrorist attack in this country after 2014. This government under the leadership of PM Modi has ensured one thing that there shall not be an opportunity for terrorists to disturb the peace.”

Later, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also address the session today. The two-day session was inaugurated by BJP president Amit Shah on Friday.

Targeting the Congress party at the concluding session of the national convention, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the non-performance and corruption were the features of the previous government.

Gadkari further said, “After we came to power, good governance, ease of business and development has been delivered by Modi ji and our government in 4.5 years as we promised in our manifesto.” Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be addressing the concluding session. He will interact with the party workers.

On an inaugural day, the party had adopted two resolutions – one on Agriculture and farm issue and the other on Social sectors – underlining the party’s concerns and attempt to focus on the growing concern over farmers’ distress, loss of income in rural areas, disgruntled upper castes and jobs especially in the context of ensuing general elections.

Posters, banners and hoardings dotted the stretch to the Ramlila Maidan, the venue of the BJP’s National Convention in the heart of the capital, with “Abki Bar Phir Modi Sarkar” (Modi government again this time) as the party sought to prepare the workers for the battle of the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

Chants of “Vande Mataram” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” across the Ramlila Maidan electrified as many as 12,000 party workers participating in the mega event.

Addressing the inaugural day of the meet, Amit Shah had raked up the issue of construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya. “BJP wants Ram Mandir to be constructed at the earliest. We are trying in the Supreme Court that the case reaches its conclusion but Congress is trying to create obstacles. We want the case to be resolved soon,” Shah had said.

The BJP chief also hit out at Congress president Rahul Gandhi for attacking Centre over Rafale issue. He said, ”Out on bail in a corruption case, the Congress president is levelling baseless allegations of graft against Modi government. People are wiser than him.”

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had said the NDA would come back to power again with the “blessings” of the poor people who have received food and houses at affordable prices and medicine for free in the Modi government’s rule.

Many of the party leaders including union ministers on Friday later posted their photographs on Twitter and Facebook with the hashtag Abki Bar Phir Modi Sarkar. In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, the BJP’s main slogan was “Abki Bar, Modi Sarkar”.
